Self-wellness is not always first priority when you are a parent. Children at any age need our love and attention but when you have small children it may always feel like there is no time for any self-care. For some mothers; myself included, finding time to shower was difficult and finding time to meditate felt impossible.
Two and a half months after having my first child Nia I was in desperate need of relaxation. Nia did not like sleeping for long periods at a time. She also loved to be held and walked when she was awake all the time. It got to the point where I did not even look forward to going to bed at night because nighttime was just as much work as the daytime. Putting it mildly I was burnt out!
I thought, “Wow what a great idea!” At this point in my life I had been meditating on and off for the past 9 years so meditation was not a new idea to me.
Once I began to meditate while breastfeeding I started to realize all of the other benefits that my child and I received such as an inner calm. Meditation is all about relaxing the mind and body by letting go of worry and stress, which lead to feeling grateful.
That is not all, meditation also brings more energy into your being, widens your awareness, and focuses your attention. This means that all of the energy you are creating while you are breastfeeding surrounds your baby.
Your precious little one will reflect these feelings back to you creating a universal bonding and friendship.
Are you ready to start meditating while breastfeeding? If so pick an easy and quick form of meditation. You can start by taking a couple deep breaths and relaxing your body. Below are a few Meditation techniques I’ve used while breastfeeding.
- Clear your mind
- Focus on love and the feelings love brings to you.
- Look at your babies face and think positive affirmations such as (child name) is healthy and happy inside and out.
- Or you can envision them at different stages of their life playing and smiling.
- Connect with their spirit by just touching their skin, feeling their heartbeat and listen to the sounds, they make.
Meditate while breastfeeding has been a delightful experience for me and I hope you have the opportunity to try it. Please leave a comment and let me know how you feel about meditation, breastfeeding or both.
Have a stress free day
